Mechanical – Design and installation of all mechanical services

Project Overview


Completed in 2018, Geoffrey Robinson completed the £450,000 mechanical installation package at a new build at the Manor Care Home, Harrogate. Manor Care Home is a 24hr Care Home comprising of 85 No. en-suite Bedrooms with fully Assisted Bathrooms to each level.

The Mechanical Services included supply and installation of the underfloor heating, domestic water services, continuous ventilation system, air-conditioning, sanitary ware and above ground drainage throughout the Care Home.

The plantroom was located on the top floor and houses the gas boilers, pressure units, water heaters, intelligent pumps and controls that generate all the heating and hot water requirements.

Every room has the individual capacity for temperature control, with option for tamperproof controls. Every en-suite bathroom has extract DMEV ventilation and humidity control which increases the fan speed accordingly. Sanitary ware to the en-suites was concealed for aesthetic and health care reasons and hot water have been pre-blended for safety assurance elderly people.

All of the drugs rooms incorporate air conditioning to ensure a satisfactory room temperature is maintained.

The main kitchen has supply and extract canopies that are interlocked with the gas supply. A gas solenoid valve has been installed upon entry to the building which is also interlocked with the fire alarm.

Each and every one of the mechanical systems was carefully commissioned and a comprehensive bespoke Operating and maintenance manual was handed over to the client.
