Mechanical – Retrofit of automatic fire sprinkler system in 9 storey occupied tower block

Geoffrey Robinson have just completed the retrofit installation of an automatic fire sprinkler system for Beyond Housing. The works included the provision of an emergency standby generator, and booster jockey pumps to ensure that resident safety in the primary consideration.

Geoffrey Robinson were the Principle Contractor, and liaised with the consultant to refine and finalise the design of the installation to ensure works were unobtrusive as possible. The primary living room in each flat did not have any visible pipework, and indeed concealed sidewall sprinkler heads were used to minimise the impact on the tenants space.

Tenant Liaison, just in time (JIT) logistics and cogent communication helped make this project a success for all involved. Comprehensive fire stopping was undertaken to ensure the fire compartmentalisation zones remained in tact and compliant to Building Regulations Document B.
